CLUB
PROJECTS
The Marysville
Kiwanis Club, in keeping with charter of Kiwanis
International, is proud to have sponsored, donated,
participated in events, or awarded monies to the following
events, schools, service organizations, or fundraisers. It’s
all about the kids. |

Fishing
Derby
Every year for the past
50 years the Marysville Kiwanis Club has sponsored a fishing
derby open to all children from pre-school to eighth grade.
The derby is held at Ellis Lake usually the 2nd Saturday in
September. The fishing derby was created by the Marysville
Kiwanis Club to inspire the children of this community with
an alternative choice to drugs. It was also created to
provide a safe and fun venue for a family outing. About 1000
children and their parents participate each year. |
Salvation
Army Bell Ringing
Every December our club
competes against the Yuba City Noon Club to see which club
will raise the most money for the Salvation Army during its
bell ringing drive. Currently the Marysv ille
Club has the trophy. The whole membership does its best to
make this a fun project by dressing in seasonal costumes,
goofy hats and giving away balloons and candy.

BUGS
Program
Students from three
elementary schools in Yuba County were recognized for
academic achievement when they maintained or increased
grades in all subjects from one grading period to the next.
The
Marysville Kiwanis Club recognized the top 50 students
who improved their grades by having a wall of honor, a
Christmas Party and a Year End Party. Bicycles were given
out to the top 10 students who participated in this program.
This program is a yearly event and it is the club’s intention to expand it to encouraging students at the higher
grade levels with the Terrific Kids Program. |

CLUB
FUNDRAISERS |
Italian Nite
The Marysville Kiwanis Club’s Italian Night is the one major
fundraiser held every year around April.
This fundraiser makes up about 95% of the monies raised to
finance the various projects of the club. Funds are raised
from ticket sales,
raffles, silent auction, and bar sales
The theme and overall coordination of each Italian Night is
the responsibility of the incoming President. The entire
membership is expected to participate in some aspect of the
fundraiser from ticket sales, decorations, cooking, serving,
bartending, providing entertainment and clean-up. This event
is well organized and the membership, although tired after
the event, has a great time. |
Other Fundraisers
Throughout the year, the club raises funds for special
projects either through small auctions, pancake breakfasts
or spaghetti feeds.
The clubs administrative funding comes from annual dues,
fines and “Happy or Sad” dollars. |

CLUB SOCIALS |
Kiwanis is not only a wonderful
way to support your community, it is also a means to network
with other business members in the community. You will meet
a large group of people from a variety of businesses from
all the Kiwanis Clubs in Division 14 if you attend
interclubs and District Conference Meetings.
The Marysville Club also holds socials throughout the year
as a means to get to know your fellow Kiwanian on a more
personal basis. These socials range from BBQ’s in the summer
to a ‘Tweener’ party during the Christmas holiday season. |
